Thinking about Spring Cleaning? Norwex Is…

Spring Cleaning Specials

Doesn’t March get you start thinking about spring?

I love waking up to the sun starting to rise and having dinner when the sun is just setting instead of being pitch dark.  I love the thought of the snow thawing, mucky rain boots, buds on the tree, new life and longer days.  I think I am getting ahead of myself…

We all know what Norwex is thinking in the spring… spring cleaning. How to clean better, without chemicals, with less time and effort, in ways that are eco-friendly, how to keep our homes safe for our kids and provide superior cleaning products that work with just water!

Did you know that Norwex doesn’t just do cleaning supplies? They also have a beautiful line of personal products.  The goal is the same as their all natural cleaning supplies… to protect our bodies, while providing superior products.  Every month, a few products (both cleaning and personal) are featured in the Customer Specials.  You may already have your favourite Norwex products, but by putting few products on sale, it gives you have an opportunity to maybe try something new (or just stock up on an old favourite).  This month, one of my favourites is on special… the Hair Turban!Norwex Spring Cleaning

Dish Duo Customer Special

The Dish Duo Special will transform your kitchen sink into a safe haven.

Dishwashing Liquid – What you use in your kitchen sink, affects our oceans.  Did you know? Phosphates which are found in many dish soaps can cause “dead zones” in our oceans. The phosphates eventually make their way to the ocean and act as food for the algae and bacteria, causing them to grow uncontrollably and consume all the oxygen in the water. Fish and other wild life can suffocate in these “dead zones”.   Nowex’s Dishwashing Liquid is an effective, environmentally-friendly option that is formulated without phosphates, dyes, sulphates, SLES, SLS or phthalates.  This is good for you and the waterways! It is hypoallergenic with a neutral pH so its is gentle on your hands and has a fresh, crisp, citrus aroma from the essential oils of Clementine. This version has been strengthened, but is still safe for delicate dishes, and is effective in both hard water and septic tanks.

It [Norwex’s Dishwashing Liquid] is very gentle! I used to get eczema really bad on my hands every winter, but since switching to the dishwashing liquid, I haven’t had eczema for two years. I also switched to the UPP for laundry and Peppermint Hand Soap and lots of other Norwex stuff that I’m sure contributed to my eczema-free hands. ~ Cindy Panek

The second part of the Dish Duo is the Graphite Dish Cloth.  It is not your average kitchen sponge. Did you know? Your kitchen sponge is the #1 source of germs in your house?? One single bacteria can become more than 8 million cells in less than 24 hours.  Yuck! That said, Norwex’s Dish Cloth does’t harbour bacteria because it is made of 100% nylon material, has a loosely woven design that allows it to dry quickly and not trap food particle. The net-like design is wonderful for removing caked-on food or flour from a counter or dish. After use, simply hang to dry and then wash with your Norwex cloths on a regular basis.

Norwex Shower Set

Hair Turban – The Hair Turban is one of my favourite personal products!!! It is perfectly design to deal with the issue of drying long hair after a shower.  It is made from Norwex’s super-absorbent microfiber that absorbs up to 75% of the water from the hair by using natural capillary action of the microfiber. The microfiber has Baclock™, the micro silver agent in the fabric, that goes to work with self-purification properties so you don’t need to wash after each use.  The Turban is easy-to-use and has a simple button and fabric loop to keep it secure. The best part is that it drastically reduces your blow-drying time which helps maintain the health and shine of your hair.

The Hair Turban is the best!

I have long hair and so do all of my daughters. We all use the Hair Turban. I remember taking my girls to swimming lessons and quickly securing the girls’ hair in the turban after their lessons.  By the time they had dressed, their hair was nearly dry.  Isn’t wet hair the worst part of swimming lessons… especially during the winter months?  I always loved that I was able to braid my girls’ hair after swimming… it was easy, because the Turban did most of the work to dry their hair. The days of swimming lessons are over in my house, but I take my Hair Turban on every trip I take… it is on my must-have list.

Back Scrubber – This is a wonderful tool for exfoliating the hard-to-reach areas of our skin.  There are so many skin products available to help us make our skin look it’s best, but they are usually expensive and contain chemicals.  Exfoliating is a simple, non-toxic way to whisk away complexion-dulling dead skin cells, which helps hydrate and reveal new skin by bringing essential lipids and moisture to the skin’s topmost layer. It also provides a deep cleanse and removes toxins and impurities in the skin. The Back Scrubber has Baclock™ technology and is designed for your back, neck, shoulders and feet and leave your skin radiant and silky smooth!  Ahhh.

Spring Into Norwex Savings!

Spring Into Norwex Savings!

March is the start of spring… at least the start of hope for spring!  In my neck of the woods – the greater Edmonton area – the winters are often long, so when March hits, we are all ready to pack away our winter gear and dig out our spring attire. Often it is not quite time… but even if the weather is not cooperating, Norwex is, by offering two great March Customer Specials to welcome in spring!!

1st Special: For the Little Blossoms

This special is a great package for kids.  The Brown Bear Pet-to-Dry  (read more) is made of super-soft chenille microfiber that is irresistible for little kids. It contains the exclusive Baclock™ in the cloth goes to work to self-purify and inhibit odors from bacteria, mold and mildew growth within the cloth. It is also super-absorbent and quick-drying so it can be used over and over. The cute animal motif and fun design helps win the battle of getting your kids to wash and dry their hands after using the washroom and creating an important life-time habit. You probably know that regular hand washing is the best defence against spreading disease and germs, but did you know that 95% of people fail to wash their hands long enough to kill the harmful bacteria on their hands?*  To do so it takes 15-20 seconds (or the time is takes to hum “Happy Birthday” twice) of vigorous scrubbing with soap to properly clean your hands.

Mom, I just dried my hands on the animal, and my hands got totally dry, but the animal didn’t get wet!!!  It was amazing! ~ William, age 4 1/2, Edmonton, Alberta

The second item is the Vibrant Body Pack.  It is a soft microfiber cloth, designed to clean and gently exfoliate skin with just water.  Kids love the colours – pink, green and yellow – and can use them in the bath to clean their bodies or to wash the faces before bed.  These clothes are perfect for delicate skin as well as problem skin as they gently remove excess oils for skin, are effective to help control acne and blackheads and can be part of your child’s daily hygiene routine. The Baclock™ agent in the cloth works to inhibit bacteria so that it can be used a few days before laundering.

The third item is the Reusable Wet Wipes Bag, that is designed to carry your Vibrant Body Pack cloths when you are on the go.  Kids are messy… that is a fact, you need something to clean faces and fingers, but traditional wipes have unnecessary chemicals and cause trouble in the sewer system if flushed and are disposable, causing unnecessary waste. Simply make the cloth damp and tuck it in the bag so it is ready to go when you face a messy face. The bag has a smaller pouch in front to tuck an extra cloth, or a Timeless Natural Hand Cleaner, or your lipgloss.

2nd Special: Spring Cleaning Power Pack

That’s right, spring cleaning season is quickly approaching.  This Power Pack special includes the top selling basic pack including a pink EnviroCloth and purple Window Cloth.  If you are familiar with Norwex, you will know that they are the perfect pair.  The EnviroCloth, when damp and flat folded, can clean all the surfaces of your home.  Then follow it behind with a WindowCloth to polish the surface, leaving them streak free, perfectly clean, without any chemical residue.  Both cloths contain Baclock™ in the cloth – our micro silver antibacterial agent – goes to work to self-purify and inhibit odors from bacteria, mold and mildew growth within 24 hours.  They are a radical way to clean your home that save time, money and the environment.

The Power Pack also has two Dusting Mitts.  Why two mitts? Because you have two hands and so you can get your dusting done twice as fast.  These mitts have a thick, dense, plush fibers designed to use static electricity to attract and hold dust and allergens and not let go. They create a long-lasting clean because there is no ‘chemical muck’ or residue left behind by traditional cleaning products or polishes. Just to name a few, use them to dust: banisters, chandeliers, plant leaves, vents, fireplace screens, leaps and mini blinds.  Clean by shaking vigorously outside or by using the Rubber Brush. Check out how your can clean your window screens… one of the best tips!

Are you excited for spring yet? As you enjoy the change of season, take advantage of these Norwex specials to help make your housekeeping and spring cleaning more efficient and cost effective!

Spring Clean Dusting

Spring Clean Dusting

Our homes collect dust. Dust is made up of all sorts of stuff – organic stuff like dead skin, but also toxic stuff from our environment.  Although spring cleaning includes dusting because of how wonderful it feels when the dusting is done, but it should also be done as a fight against toxins in our homes. The EWG or Environmental Working Group is a nonprofit organization whose mission is “to empower people to live healthier lives in a healthier environment”.  They conducted studies to reveal the dirt about dust in our homes. They found that dust,

“is a place where harmful chemicals are found. One recent study by the Silent Spring Institute identified 66 endocrine-disrupting compounds in household dust tests, including flame retardants, home-use pesticides, and phthalates.

The chemicals in your dust originate from both inside and outside your house:

1  Products inside your house “shed” chemicals over time — furniture, electronics, shoes, plastics, fabrics and food, among other things.

2  Outdoor pollutants enter on your shoes and through open and cracked windows and doors.

Once inside, the contaminants in indoor dust degrade more slowly (if at all) than they would outside in the environment where moisture and sunlight typically break them down.

One type of toxic chemical commonly found in household dust is chemical flame retardants (aka PBDEs). As highly flammable synthetic materials have replaced less-combustible natural materials, PBDEs have been added to thousands of everyday products, including computers, TVs and furniture — among many others.”

The EWG cautions that young children are at a higher risk of being exposed to these toxins because they spend most of their time playing on the floor putting their little fingers and anything they grab into their mouthes… so let’s get started and remove dust without adding any more chemicals.

You will need: Enviro Cloth, EnviroWand, Superior Mop CollectionMicro Cleaning Hand Pad

Walls – First you will need to wash your walls from fingerprint height and lower (everything above this height is just dust) using a well-wrung Enviro Cloth.  For any scuffs use a small square of a Micro Cleaning Hand Pad and give it a scrub.  For dusting, lock the head on your Mop, attach the dry head (yellow), and dust all the way to the ceiling.

Wood Furniture – Put a Dusting Mitt on each hand- the faster you can dust the better- and give the dusting mitts one spray of water.  It will remove all the dust, finger prints, coffee marks etc. and leave the furniture streak free.

Doors – Put a Dusting Mitt on each hand, spray with one squirt of water clean the details in your doors beautifully.

blindsBlinds – Put a Dusting Mitt on each hand and hold the blind with one hand and rub along the face and underside of each slat.  The mitts will hold a lot of dust while leaving your slats clean.

Watch how:

Door Frames – Bend the EnviroWand in an upside “U” and drag along the tops of your door frames.

Pictures Frames – Put a Dusting Mitt on each hand and hold the frame with one hand and dust with the other.

Light Fixtures & Ceiling Fans – Bend your EnviroWand and give it a squirt of water and gently remove all the dust from those fixtures.

Done!

Remember your EnviroWand can bend and flex, so give it a squirt of water and sneak it into areas you have never dusted before.

Between the Dusting Mitts and the EnviroWand you will be able to dust the majority of the surfaces in your home.  Isn’t that amazing?

Spring Clean Outdoors

Spring Clean Outdoors

With the long-waited spring season comes the long-waited barbecue season!  Spring cleaning would not be complete without getting one of our favourite “tools” clean. As the BBQ works hard during the summer months to supply mouthwatering meals, I would like to show you a biodegradable, all-natural but tough cleaning system for your BBQ that works FANTASTIC!  It is one that you will feel comfortable cooking dinner on, right after you clean it.

BBQ – You will need: Oven & Grill CleanerSpirinett & EnviroCloth

  • Roll your BBQ onto a tarp or a used newspaper to avoid staining your deck — this is a greasy and sometimes drippy job.
  • Heat your BBQ to its lowest setting, approximately 150 degrees, turn off.
  • Spray the BBQ racks including the upper racks with Oven & Grill Cleaner, close the lid and let sit for five minutes.
  • Grab a small bowl of water and a use a Spirinett to scrub across the face of the BBQ racks.  This stainless steel ball will remove all the burnt on deposits and make your racks clean and shiny.
  • To finish the job, use an well-wrung EnviroCloth to wipe both the outside of the BBQ and the racks inside that you just scrubbed.
  • Bring your EnviroCloth to a sink and rinse well; rub it on itself to remove the majority of the grease.
  • Put your BBQ back in its original spot – ready for your next BBQ!

Done!

While we are outside let’s continue our “get it done” spring cleaning, by getting started on the windows. Our windows collect dirt, debris, whatever hit your window or what they left behind and creates another spring cleaning job. I would like to show you a simple method to maintain clean windows in your home that doesn’t not require paper towel or chemicals.

Windows – You will need: EnviroCloth & Window Cloth (that’s it)

  • Box the outside edge of your window with a well-wrung, flat-folded EnviroCloth.
  • Wipe the remainder of your window with the same EnviroCloth. Spray your window with a little water if you find the moisture is evaporating too quickly.
  • Use your flat-folded WindowCloth to polish the window – leaving a streak-free and shiny window.

Done!

For high windows:

  • Attach a well-wrung EnviroCloth to your Mop System head – after you have attached your wet mop pad (leaving it dry) – with the clip system.
  • Lock the head of the mop so it doesn’t swivel.
  • With an up and down motion, clean your window.
  • Replace EnviroCloth with a Window Cloth.  When your Window Cloth is dry you can only work in an upwards motion.  So give your window a squirt of water and polish from the base to the top of your window.

Done!

Lastly, we will clean our patio furniture.  Patio furniture is one of those things that gets dirty just by sitting there – not even being used.  But we want to use them this spring!!!  Again, this is a job that usually calls for paper towel and windex, but the Norwex method will eliminate the use of paper or chemicals. Even your kids can be the boss of the patio cleaning. So, let’s get started.

Patio Furniture – You will need: EnviroCloth & Window Cloth (that’s it, again)

  • With a well-wrung EnviroCloth, simply wipe down all the surfaces of your patio furniture.
  • Finish by using a Window Cloth to polish.

Done!

Now that your outdoor spring cleaning is well underway, sit and relax with a barbecue dinner tonight.
