New Cleaning Solutions: Keeping it fun!

Norwex has 3 fabulous NEW bathroom products!

firstThe first new product is the Pet to Dry — a silly name for the most fun hand towel ever invented.  It was created for all the little kids in your life who avoid taking the time to wash their little hands, never mind, dry their little hands.  “How do they do it?” you ask. They made the Pet to Dry irresistible!!!  They are adorable & fluffy and all you have to do is pet it and your hands are dry.  It comes in two styles – a pink pig & a yellow tiger. Like Norwex’s regular hand towels, these the Pet to Dry is made with BacLock™ technology works to self-purify the cloth and is constructed out of a soft chenille microfiber.  It not only dries little hands quickly, but it is quick to dry as well. The best part of these soft, cute hand driers is, that it is an effective tool to help kids create healthy-hand-washing habits for the rest of their lives.  Hang it on your washroom door knob or on the kitchen cabinets for quick and easy access!

secondDo you feel like a contortionist when trying to clean and exfoliate the skin on your back?  The second new bathroom product is the Back Scrubber! There is nothing better than a good back scratch… except for an exclusive Norwex BacLock™ technology, microfiber, dual handle & easy-to-grip, quick-drying Back Scrubber.  Not only is a good back scrub a guiltless pleasure, but Norwex’s new product also aids in the health of your hard-to-reach skin with deep-cleaning exfoliation to remove toxins and impurities and reveal radiant, clean skin.    Great for your neck, shoulders, legs and feet.  Your back will thank you (and maybe your spouse too)!

IMG_6332thirdThe third new bathroom product is the Bathroom Mat.  Now it’s not completely new, but what is new is that it now comes in a graphite (grey) colour.  It is still super absorbent, holding 10 times its weight in water, it still doesn’t slip on your bathroom floor because it is so thick, it still dries quickly and is super soft on your feet.  It comes in three beautiful colours: teal, latte & graphite.  Check out my previous post to get all the details on this fabulous bath mat & all its uses.

These new bathroom products will help develop healthy habits and aid in healthier lifestyles without adding any toxins to your bathroom routine. Doesn’t that sound wonderful???

New Product – Silicone Lids

New Product – Silicone Lids

There are so many uses for plastic wrap, aluminum foil and paper towel when it comes to packaging leftovers and reheating food.  They help keep leftover food fresh, keep the microwave from getting splattered, insulate your potluck meals, replace the lost lid on your favourite casserole dish… the list goes on.

Until recently, my family used plastic wrap and aluminum foil for all these needs. But as my family strives to reduce its environmental footprint, we are finding more ways to reduce our household waste. Norwex has another great solution to help reduce all our environmental footprints by reducing our need for disposable wraps.

Norwex’s NEW silicone lids are now available for bakeware, both rectangular and square sizes, round casserole dishes and as well as cups. These lids are designed to keep your food fresher longer as well as insulate hot items or liquids.  Food-Grade Silicone does not leach chemicals into your food during the storage or the reheating process. They are reusable and therefore easy on the environment and will save you money.

The new silicone bakeware lid is fabulous at keeping your baked goods fresh… but be warned that because you won’t have to fight with the plastic wrap, the brownies will be easier to access. These lids fit a 9 x 13 rectangular dish and are also excellent for leftover lasagna or casseroles.silicone lid

What makes them great:

  • Made with 100% food grade silicone.
  • BPA-free.
  • Lightweight.
  • They create an airtight seal with any smooth-rimmed surface.
  • Recyclable.
  • Microwave, dishwasher and oven safe (up to 425 degrees F).
  • Food-odor resistant.
  • Great red colour (on square and rectangular silicone lids) to resist stains from pasta sauces.

Screen Shot 2015-08-31 at 4.08.16 PMIdeas for how to use:

  • Melted real butter over popcorn is delicious. Cover the cup with the new silicone cup lid.
  • Tired of cold coffee?  At the office or with the kids running around your ankles – Keep your coffee and tea warm with the new silicone cup lid.
  • Have a favourite pan without a lid?  Don’t throw it away – use a silicone lid.
  • Hot sputtering coconut oil all over your stove when you fry your eggs? Use a silicone lid to cover your fry pan.

Did you know that virtually every piece of plastic wrap used, is still in the landfill? According to the environmental protection agency, the US consumes over 380 billion plastic bags, snacks and wraps every year. Every home can make a difference to reduce this environmental impact.

How many rolls of plastic wrap do you think your family could save?

New Product — Norwex Exclusive Water Filtration Technology System

New Product — Norwex Exclusive Water Filtration Technology System

The Norwex Water Filtration System is a perfect addition to anyone’s home who is committed to reducing disposable containers as well as maintaining a healthy body!

Water, as we all know, is vital to our health.  The amount we drink is directly related to the the health of our bodies; being hydrated makes our skin look good, it helps control our weight and regulate body temperature, it helps with our digestion of food and remove toxins and it just makes us feel good. We should not take our water for granted, in fact Norwex wanted to make it even better.

The Norwex Water Filtration System features a 4-stage filtration system that uses exclusive magnesium technology for crisp clean water free from impurities such as copper, cadmium, mercury and lead. It maintains mineral and ph balances and creates a better-tasting smooth water. Magnesium is an essential mineral that the body cannot produce on its own and must get from food/water sources. Magnesium has many benefits including: metabolizing carbohydrates, proteins and fats, it helps form tissues and maintain muscles, and it helps grow strong teeth and bones. There are other water filtration systems, but what makes Norwex different is that magnesium is released into the water during the ion exchange – adding to your health regime.

Filtered water is also perfect for cooking and using in your appliances.  Because it filters the heavy metals and lime out of the water, appliances, such as your coffee machine, Keurig or kettle, will last longer and your coffee will taste better.

Being Norwex, they have maintained their track record for making great products and therefore designed an easy-to-pour, fit-in-your-fridge, let-you-know-when-its-time-to-change-your-filter, simple-to-clean, BPA-free water pitcher. It has it all! It will save you money if you usually buy bottled water, provide clean crisp yummy water and add magnesium to your diet.

Drink up… at least 8 glasses per day!

Keep Allergens and Pollutants Outside

Keep Allergens and Pollutants Outside

What is the best kind of dirt?  The kind that stays outside!!  I’m Dutch, I was taught to dust… even when I couldn’t even find any.  Our homes are our sanctuary and truly the only environment we can control.

There’s nothing I love more than entertaining at our home; we are blessed to have many nephews and nieces that have moved into our city to attend university. They are always welcome to come for a warm meal and family time.  With friends coming and going as well, we have a busy home!

Entry mats are a stylish way to keep dirt and allergens from traveling throughout your home.  Norwex has launched a new Entry Mat for your home this fall, thirsty microfiber and polypropylene bristles and all. These features will trap the dirt at the door, as 85% of contaminants are brought into our homes in the first four steps.  The industrial strength rubber backing will hold it in place!

Here’s a few other ways you can prevent unwanted pollutants from entering your home:

1. First and foremost, your mat is your first line of defense. If you wish, you can even keep one just outside your door to wipe your shoes off on, and one inside your door to soak up the remaining moisture from your shoes. Just make sure you’re vacuuming/laundering your mat about once a week to keep it doing its job efficiently!

2. Create a “no-shoes-past-the-mat” policy, simply remove muddy footwear BEFORE reaching the entryway floor. I know some people who have placed a bench nearby to make this easier, my family has adopted the shoe rack system to keep our shoes organized and minimize unnecessary clean-up!

3. Paw prints making a mess? Keep a Norwex EnviroCloth or hang a Dusting Mitt handy at your back door where you let the dogs (or cats) in to readily wipe their furry paws and prevent any messy situations. Nobody likes trying to get mud out of their carpets.

A couple handy suggestions:

  • This mat is the perfect size for your RV.  With the non-slip rubber backing it will hold in place and absorb unwanted moisture.
  • Do you have a pool or hot tub in the back yard?  Place this mat at the door and you’ll appreciate its absorbancy.

Already loving the new Norwex entry mat? We are too! Try out the Norwex Rubber Brush to keep it clean between laundering, or run over your mat with a hand held vacuum.

Did You Know?

  • The soles of your shoes are a major source of transferring chemicals and pesticides into your home.  In fact, most of the grime in our homes originated elsewhere, the bulk of it coming in unnoticed on shoes that often don’t appear to be either muddy or dirty.
  • A good quality entry mat is essential, it will remove much of the contaminants that otherwise would find their way inside your home.
  • The right entry mat can also reduce the time you spend cleaning, it should be about the same width as the door.
  • With unwanted debris, chemicals and other residue from lawn equipment and automobiles, garages and public restrooms on our footwear, we all track unwanted filth into our homes.

“Thanks-for-Giving” Me More Time

“Thanks-for-Giving” Me More Time

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, I thought I would share a few things I am thankful for. My husband who has been one of the driving forces for me behind this business, and my beautiful girls who inspire me to make this earth cleaner, for their future.  I am so blessed to have such a wonderful family who is as passionate about changing our world as I am.

That being said, when entertaining in our home this Monday, I hope to spend as much time possible with my family, NOT cleaning up dishes. This, of course, means less time doing the dinner clean-up. Daily we use the Norwex Kitchen Towels for drying our dishes and hands. I have never had a towel dry faster, and absorb spills more easily than this one.  The towels are sold individually or in sets with a matching cloth.

At a Customer Appreciation Event in Smithers, B.C. a testimony was shared about these towels:  It was Easter and her entire family of thirty guests were joining her family for dinner.  The food was prepared, wine was poured and the table was set.  But unfortunately the dishwasher was broken.  With the recent purchase of two Norwex Kitchen Towels they dried all of the dishes; from the wine glasses and utensils to the once greasy turkey roasting pan.  She was delighted with her new towels and told all who were there that they should also try them.  Old dish towels that sort of did the job are a thing of the past, Norwex has come out with an absorbent solution!

Safe On:

  • Stainless Steel
  • Enamel / Stone / China
  • Ceramic / Glass / Crystal
  • Chrome / Wood / Plastic
  • Granite / Marble / Slate / Quartz / Tile

The unique weave allows the Kitchen Cloth to tackle all your kitchen surfaces; they are super absorbent, quick-drying and non-abrasive.  In addition, BacLock™ in the cloth – a micro silver antibacterial agent – goes to work to inhibit odors from bacteria, mold and mildew growth within the cloth. Best news? No more smelly cloths or towels! If that’s not something to be thankful for, I don’t know what is.

This fall the kitchen towels are available in new colors, including orchid, butter-cream, and my favorite, a rich and festive pomegranate red.

The towel and cloths set are available now in eight different color options.  Mix and match to hang in your kitchen as dish towels and hand drying towels.

Did You Know?

Many products incorporate silver because of it’s antibacterial properties.  There are silver antibacterial socks, silver soap, silver-lined curtains in hospitals, silver-lined bandages for treating burns and even silver toothbrushes.

Key Benefits:

  • Norwex Microfiber uses a combination of static electricity and capillary action to pull dirt and grease up into the fibers and away from the surface.
  • Dries kitchen counter and dishes quickly.
  • Saves time, money and the environment with chemical-free cleaning and no use of paper towel.
  • BacLock™, the micro silver agent goes to work with self-purification properties.
  • Exceptionally fast-drying.

Stubborn Suckers – Plastic Straws

Stubborn Suckers – Plastic Straws

On average, each person in the U.S. uses 1.6 plastic straws every day!!! Between the ages of 5-65, this means that about 38,000 straws are used per person. And that’s not counting the paper wrappers!!  By now you may be tempted to order your next drink without a straw.  But lets face it, those suckers are handy.

The environmental impact is disturbing.  Plastic straws are one of the top 10 debris ingested by sea life.

Although many disposable drinking straws are produced with the intention of being recycled (#2 and #5 plastics), they are not. As they are not biodegradable , but photo-degradable, it can take these flimsy straws centuries to break down. In other words, “disposable straws” are not really “disposable”. The majority of them join other plastic products that saturate landfills, or are strewn along roads and beaches, harming wildlife, and ultimately harming us. Many of these straws contain BPA, a known endocrine disruptor. As animals ingest bits of plastic, the BPA accumulates through the food chain ending up on OUR dinner plates and ultimately in our bodies.

Watch this:

Did You Know?

    • Straws were originally made from hollow stalks of rye grass.
    • The first straws used commercially were made from paper (which are still available).
    • Most plastic straws are also individually wrapped in paper, which equals more trash.
