What Norwex Cloth Should I Use?

What Norwex Cloth Should I Use?

Norwex has a fabulous collection of cleaning cloths!  Did you know? Norwex Microfiber has the ability to remove up to 99% of bacteria from a surface when following the proper care and use instructions. All Norwex cloths are constructed with superior microfiber. Lots of them have the exclusive Baclock™ in the cloth that goes to work to self-purify and inhibit odors from bacteria, mold and mildew growth in the cloth; some of them have different types of fibers woven with the microfiber for extra scrubbing power. Some are super-soft for delicate surfaces, while others are textured to deal with tough kitchen messes. The Norwex line of microfiber cloths are expertly designed to tackle every job you face in your homes without using chemicals.

Have you ever wondered if you are using the best Norwex cloth for the job?

Let me remove the guessing game and give you the scoop on what cloth is best for what job. Let this post be your quick reference guide when you find yourself wondering if you are choosing the best cloth.

The Norwex Counter Cloths are so new that they are not on the comparison chart. But they are so fantastic, I wanted to include them in this post :).Norwex Counter Cloths

Did you know that most of your Norwex cloths should NOT be used with soap?

Norwex microfiber cloths only require water to do their job effectively.  The reason soap is not advised is because the microfiber is designed to absorb 7 times it’s weight (in water, dirt, debris, grease) but it will absorb soap as well.  This happens because there are open spaces in the fibers created by the splitting process (during manufacturing) that enable the cloths to lift away dust and dirt and absorb several times its own weight. The absorbed soap will coat and clog the pores in the microfibers, making them ineffective and deep cleaning will be required to restore the cloth.  But like most things in life, there are a few exceptions.  These exceptions are designed to be used with or without dish soap (ideally Norwex Dishwashing Liquid). They include:

Norwex Kitchen Cloth

These one aren’t technically cloths, but they are worth mentioning:

Did you know that Norwex cloths expire?

Norwex’s superior microfiber is guaranteed for 2 years of service.  Norwex microfiber cloths work hard and have the ability to remove up to 99% of bacteria from a surface when following the proper care and use instructions.  The microfiber is so ‘micro’ that if unwound, the fibers would stretch 3 million meters.  After two years, they are no longer guaranteed as a chemical replacement. This doesn’t mean you should throw them away… it just means they should be demoted to jobs that don’t required 99% of bacteria removal.  There are lots of jobs like that! For example: garage jobs, the outside windows, cleaning patio furniture, etc.  I do suggest you replace the cloths you use to maintain your kitchen, bathroom, toilet, and any other cloths you use on surfaces that would normally require chemicals, every 2 years!  That way it is guaranteed clean.

Here’s my little riddle to help you remember:

Expired Norwex Cloth Riddle

Ever wondered if you are following the ‘proper care and use instructions’ for your Norwex cloths?

Caring for your cloths is simple. To maximize the use of your cloths, ensure that you are removing up to 99% of bacteria from the surfaces in your home and prevent your cloths from getting stinky, just follow the instructions below.  Norwex Microfiber Care Tips

I recommend that every 6 months, you deep clean your cloths. This is the best and most simple way to care for and maximize the life of your Norwex cloths.  Read How to Deep Clean your Norwex Microfiber Cloths for all the details.

Norwex’s way of cleaning is radically different!  Because of this, you may need to radically change how you think about cleaning.  Hopefully this post will equip you with the information needed to sort out any confusion between the cloths and help you make the most of your cloths, inform you when it is time to replace your old cloths and teach you about proper care instructions for your cloths.

Do you still have questions? Feel free to leave a comment if you are still wondering about how to make the most of your Norwex cloths.

Plastic Pollution in our Ocean

Plastic is a problem. CBC recently reported that “there are more than 79,000 tonnes of ocean plastic in a 1.6 million square kilometre area of the North Pacific Ocean, often referred to as the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. That’s 16 times more than previous estimates.”  Plastic is a material that does not decompose.  It never goes away. It does break down into small pieces, called microplastics (pieces measuring less than 0.5 cm in diameter), which “marine life can consume and potentially die from”.  The Ocean Cleanup Foundation commissioned an expedition in 2015 and found 1.8 trillion pieces of microplastics, including “plastic bottles, containers, packaging straps, lids, ropes and fishing nets… that have been accumulating for decades.” In this CBC article, Marcus Eriksen, founder and research director of the 5 Gyres Institute spoke about how the clean up efforts are important, but “not a solution by itself. ” Eriksen and Laurent Lebreton, lead author of Scientific Reports agree that they “would like to see less single-use plastic as well as a focus on cleaning up beaches and shores, before it makes its way into our oceans.”

Reducing the use of all these ‘single-use’ plastic products is worth it.  The Produce Bags (set of 3) are made of a washable polyester that don’t leach chemicals, are washable and super durable.  They are the perfect size to bring your produce home, are light enough so your produce can be weighed inside the bag and you can even wash, rinse and store your produce in the bag when you get home. The Silicone Lids (set of 2) are constructed with food-grade silicone and are designed to create an airtight seal on food containers.  They keep food fresh, can be used in the microwave and oven (up to 425º F) and won’t hold food odours.  A perfect reusable alternative to plastic wrap and foil.  The Stainless Steel Drinking Straws (set of 4) are a great way to avoid single-use straws because although they are usually recyclable, they don’t usually get recycled. Did you also know? More than 500 million plastic straws are used daily.  They are one of the top 10 debris items ingested by sea life. These straws fit most cups and bottles and even make your drink taste colder… which is perfect for smoothies.  The Norwex Cleaning Brush is the perfect tool to quickly clean out the straws so they are ready to use again. BONUS: When you buy the Pitch the Plastic Pack you will receive a FREE Special Edition Optic Scarf.

Necessities for the Holiday Kitchen

Norwex Customer Specials for the KitchenPomegranate Kitchen Towel and Kitchen Cloth with Baclock™ – This Norwex customer special comes at the perfect time and in the perfect colour!

At Christmas time, we put our kitchen towels to the test, both Norwex’s Kitchen Towel and Cloth will not disappoint. The microfiber design is ridged, which is perfect for trapping debris and for soaking up LOTS of moisture. Both cloths have Baclock™ the micro silver agent in the cloth, that goes to work with self-purification properties against mold, fungi and bacterial odor. They are lint-free, will leave your counter tops streak-free and are non-abrasive. The microfiber cloths are designed to thoroughly clean and dry your surfaces, plus they are delicate enough for crystal.

Let me share a great testimony about the Norwex Kitchen Towel that I received from a fellow consultant.  It was Thanksgiving and her whole family (16 people) was over for dinner when her dishwasher broke down.  They had no choice but to wash all the dishes by hand! She told me that ONE Norwex Kitchen Towel was all we needed to dry ALL the dishes!  They are exceptionally absorbent!! Plus, the pomegranate is a great Christmas colour and will make doing all those dishes a JOY!!!

Pack of 2 Spirinett – This tough, durable scrubber is a must for cleaning up Christmas dinner.  It is made of rust-free, non-deteriorating stainless steel that works effortlessly to remove baked-on food. This scrubber can be used in more places than the kitchen, like to remove: algae from your fish tank, water stains, glue, grime, paint, rust and more. The Spirinett is even dishwasher safe.

Gifts for the Car Connoisseur

Did you know that all the cleaning products we use on our driveways go straight into the storm drains and into the river without pretreatment at the city water plant?  Our cities assume that the storm drains only receive rain water and melted snow, not harmful chemicals. Would you be comfortable dumping your cleaning solutions from the shoreside into the river, or would you think twice?

Norwex Customer Specials for Car LoverThis Customer Special is a wonderful gift for the car lover in your life.  It not only reduces the need for harmful cleaners, but it also drastically reduces the need for water (1 bucket) to wash your vehicle. The Car Wash Mitt has a nubby chenille microfiber on one side and a sponge layer microfiber on the other.  The thick, plush fibers hold dirt and grime away from your car’s surface to reduce scratching.  The open spaces in the fibers allow the mitt to lift away dirt and grime, plus it is SUPER absorbent. You only use water to wash your car with the Car Mitt so your car will stay cleaner, longer, because there is no residual chemical muck to attract dirt to the car’s surface.

The Car Cloth is made from tightly woven fibers that prevent the cloth from holding dirt and scratching your finish. It is designed to polish your entire car, from windows, to mirrors, to chrome, to a beautiful shine.  For more details of how to green clean your vehicle, read: Car Wash… Norwex Style.

The Norwex Customer Specials will make great gifts for those on your Christmas list.  Many items are less than $25 and will bless your loved one as well as their environment.  Merry Christmas!
